World of Kalrei Empty World of Kalrei

Post  seraph787 Sat Aug 27, 2011 12:36 am

In the aftermath of the Anima-Wars, the world began its recovery from the destruction of an 800 year war. Continents lay in ruin. Survivors lay in debri and waste of what once was considered to be the Utopian era. Now, very few really understand what the wars were about.

The people of the land consider themselves lucky to be alive. Even the Elven and Dwarven people who live many lifetimes are rather unfamiliar with the past. Each family has been ravaged time and again, death knowing so few boundaries in this untame world. For all have known very little but death throughout what many consider to be very long lives; lives that merely spanned a few decades at the most until the end of the war. An end that did not come because any side won.

There are those kingdoms that have begun to restructure. Their economies have begun anew and order is slowly being brought forth. However, amidst the revival there are those who seek to destroy it or, worse yet, take advantage of it.

As the world pushes forth into this new era, many look to a rare commodity of magic to help fuel their efforts. What few kingdoms there are that have managed to make the leaps from utter desolation task mercenaries and armed forces all around the globe in search of these treasures, hoping to find some answer to the repair of their world. Many legends also circulate about the possibilities of these mysterious magics. Some say there are magics that could restore their sundered earth or their blackened skies. Others speculate about the ability to wreak even more havoc on the world.

There are few in this world who can actually practice magic or the divine. And even those who can, can only do so in weakened form. Their spells sometimes fail altogether and when they do succeed, they are no where near as effective as they had once been rumored to be.

World of Kalrei Empty Continent of Keb

Post  seraph787 Sun Aug 28, 2011 8:02 pm

Like all of the world, there is very little known of the history of Keb before the Anima Wars. The cities lay in ruin where once great steam engines powered the continent. The sky, before it had been parched by fire and smoke, was once filled with airships displaying the great wonders of the world. Denizens of this great continent had once flourished with the use of technology and magics now lost to the ages.

What is known, however, is that there were 9 kingdoms. Not all were equal in size; in fact, there were those that had allied with one another during the war in order to survive. Today, only four remain. Sekomatt, Beremor, the Old Maru Republic, and Seddir. Each remains separated now, not knowing what alliances were once held in the past - only knowing that at some point in the past, their forefathers had marched to war in every stretch of the continent. The people are simply grateful to be alive.

Very few, if any, homes still exist. The old buildings are all demolished or sunken beneath massive piles of bodies and their neighboring buildings. The homes people now carve may as well be cardboard and most people resort to making tents because their survival is mostly off of whatever scraps can be found. Even now, most people die of starvation because the ruined soil and the mostly hidden sun do not provide the nourishment needed for plants. Animals have all but died off.

The life of an adventurer is fraught with great danger, not so much from great and terrible monsters but from plain ordinary people like themselves. Adventurers are rare indeed, but the surviving or, in some cases, rising hierarchies are seeking to find whatever means they can find to bring their kingdom out of the darkness and so do their best to arm their people with what they have left but it is not much. These adventurers sometimes find themselves attacked by others who simply want their riches. Not many survive. It is kill or be killed.
